Savoir-faire exhibit tour – techniques and production

The public is invited to enjoy the final day of the exhibitions Intercalées and Lorsque surgit l’empreinte (When the Print Emerges) during a guided tour led by Michelle LaSalle, a printmaker. The tour will highlight the techniques and methods behind the creation of the works on display, through the artist’s expert eye.
When the Print Emerges is an interdisciplinary co-creation project that pairs writers with printmakers to explore the multifaceted and evocative themes of memory and dialogue. At the intersection of the personal and the universal, the exhibition explores what endures and what transforms. Curated by Claire-Marine Beha, this exhibition showcases the outcome of a creative residency at ZOCALO, an artists’ centre for the duo formed by Stéphanie Bellemare-Page and Estelle Frenette-Valières, as well as Martina Chumova and Anie Toole.
Intercalées seeks to highlight the power and diversity of the approaches taken by Zocalo’s members. Curated by Michelle LaSalle, the exhibition highlights the sensibilities and materialities specific to printmaking practices, whilst exploring the medium’s potential for cultural and feminist resistance. The exhibition brings together works by Lucie Bouvet, Virginie Fillion-Fecteau, Carole Fisette, Céline Goudreau, Myriam Tousignant and Claire Lemay. This exhibition forms part of the centre’s annual theme: dialogue. It is particularly interested in the aesthetic and conceptual overlaps between their practices.
