What should be preserved for the future?
It’s with this question in mind that we invite you to take part in the creation of a collective sculpture that will live on the grounds of Bâtiment 7 for years to come.
In the interest of giving used materials a second life, Atelier La Coulée is partnering with printmaking centres to help source their copper for casting. Printmakers have gathered and recycled used copper plates from printmaking, matrices that once carried etched images, gestures, and histories. These plates will be melted down and transformed, giving them a new life.
During the activity, you are invited to draw into the sand, leaving behind an imprint. Atelier La Coulée’s team will then pour molten bronze, made from these reclaimed plates, into your drawings before your eyes. Each mark will become a lasting trace, cast in metal.
We invite you to draw something you wish to preserve, something meaningful that you want to carry into the future. The tiles created through this process will come together to form a collective sculpture.
