Poisson Poisson! exhibit opening of Gabrielle van der Schoot

Discover the vibrant and imaginative world brought to life in the ‘Poisson Poisson!’ exhibit, which showcases Gabrielle van der Schoot’s hybrid practice combining printmaking, collage and drawing. With a keen interest in storytelling, she creates visual narratives of personal experiences told through playful creatures and characters. Small, mundane snippets of everyday life are reimagined as humorous and exaggerated illustrations, taking the form of zines, engravings and lithographs.
Gabrielle van der Schoot is a visual artist originally from Ottawa, who’s lived in Montreal since 2021. Her practice focuses primarily on printmaking, drawing, collage and zines. She is the recipient of the 2024 Zocalo grant, through which she took part in an artist residency. She exhibits her prints and zines at exhibitions and fairs across Quebec.
