After Papier? : Material, Matrix, Mutation Artist Roundtable

This roundtable brings together artists from the exhibition Papier? : Ariane Valade (in collective with Dominique Desbiens), Souleima Basha, Nicole Milette, Le Lin, Toko Hara, and Antoine Caron, to reflect on what happens when printmaking is released from its most familiar support. If paper has historically framed how images are transferred, circulated, and understood, what new possibilities emerge when that ground is removed?
Through their practices, the invited artists engage with alternative surfaces (textile, metal, wood, rock, found objects), expanded notions of the matrix, and experimental modes of presentation. The conversation will explore how material choices shape meaning, how constraints can become generative tools, and how printmaking continues to evolve in response to contemporary conditions.
Moving between material, experimentation, and politics, this discussion invites a reconsideration of what printmaking is, and what it might become.
