Program 2016

2016 — The Beginnings

The Montreal Printed Arts Festival, a brand new initiative highlighting the city’s printed art milieu !

In 2016, the first edition of MPAF (FAIMTL) was born out of a collaboration between six local organizations, including Atelier Circulaire, Arprim, Zocalo, the BANQ–Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, the Maison de la culture de Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, and the Maison de la culture de Longueuil in partnership with ARCMTL. The initial vision was to promote printmaking of all kinds in Montreal and throughout Quebec. Alongside a program of exhibitions showcasing emerging artists, demonstrations and artist talks were organized, culminating in an unprecedented gathering in Montreal centered around printed arts: The GRANDE Fair, which took place on May 7, 2016. The theme of this first edition focused on boundaries and how they are pushed in contemporary printmaking.
